Day 12 - Wandering Quartzsite

Although a chilly 8 degrees out, we watched the sun rise over the mountains this morning. Spectacular!

It quickly warmed up and in no time it was hotter outside than in the RV! After a quick breakfast we headed into Quartzsite to investigate the big quilting show. On the way, we stopped and filled out our BLM paperwork at the host station for Plomosa. (He was away yesterday so we had just gone straight in.)

I dropped Kelly off and was notified via text that she would “be a while” so I headed over to Kuehn Street to check out the various stalls. I had observed numerous RV’s with a small white dome antenna either on the ground nearby or mounted on the roof. I needed to investigate it further.

Critters!
The only thing I found of interest was a nice caulking gun for $10… so I splurged and bought it! Kelly texted and said she was ready for her “Uber” to pick here up.  I headed off and retrieved her. She said the show was pretty good with lots to see. She enjoyed it.

We stopped at some stalls on the North side of town but nothing really appealed to us so off we went back to Kuehn Street. We wandered around and picked up a couple small items.

Next was a stop at the local Satellite Store for some “information gathering” on these units. We quickly determined our needs and decided to think about it for a while.

Off to find a hummingbird feeder at Dollar General and then top up the fuel for the trip east on Sunday… and back to the satellite store where we picked up a Dish Playmaker system. It is a pay as you go monthly plan and will hopefully meet our needs while on the road with the RV.  Proof is in the pudding they say.

A quick stop at the RC field and we met up with Ted Nolan, a fellow BC resident. He knew Hartley Hughson, Gordie Jack and others from our area. He gave me the lowdown on the field, membership and an open invite to fly at their airshow next week. Unfortunately my dates are all crossed up and I’ll be in Phoenix at that time.

Back at the Plomosa BLM, we unboxed the dish and after some initial setup issues, managed to get it all up and running. Another great sunset and we finished the day off with a campfire.

I got the caulking gun... Kelly got the dish.
No plans for tomorrow yet other than some relaxing at the desert campsite.
