Day 17 - Picacho Peak State Park - Arizonian RV Park

We once again watched the sun come up but this time we were both sitting in our chairs outside on our “patio”.  It was about 7ºC with a light wind so not exactly warm!

Sunrise
A nice view from our site.
We had some toast for breakfast and I played around with the cable on the satellite system. Trying to sort out the connections so we can 1) extend the cable out further and 2) get the built in wiring functioning so we don’t have to exit via a window :-)

I made good progress with an additional 25 foot extension giving us a full 50 feet of cable. Perfect! Next was the cable routing itself but I decided to wait until later in the day to finish that up.

I managed to get a few shots of our feeder in action…. it was very popular with the Humming Birds .

Friendly visitor to the feeder.
We pulled out at 11 am and after dumping the grey tanks, we hit the road at 11:15. We followed our route that we took yesterday and made a quick stop in Coolidge to get fresh chilled water in our 18 litre water jug. (75 cents for 5 gallons!)

We then headed north to the Arizonian RV Park on Hwy 60. It is about 15 minutes south east of town and should provide a good base for our next 10 days. We opted to go to an RV park as we have Lauren & Kyle hopefully coming down to spend some time with us. This will help remove any water issues that could crop up with four people using the RV’s services. All good.

We arrived at the Arizonian RV Park and after checking in and paying for our stay, we re-positioned to site #47.  The park is very nice with wide spaces between rigs. Plenty of room to park the TV (tow vehicle).

After getting unhooked and set up, we headed into town to hunt down a T-Mobile store. I needed a new sim card (we think) and the goal was to get my iPad up and running. We spent about 45 minutes in the store and determined that the iPad was good, the connection was good, but the plan that was purchased was not activating correctly… so they are still “working on it”. Arghhh!

Costco was fairly close so a quick stop there was arranged. The parking lot was jammed but we managed to get in eventually. Some food items and a nice pale ale & Margarita was purchased.

Back at the RV park we finished unpacking and got the unit ready for the stay here. I also managed to get the satellite system properly wired through the RV so no “cracked window” wire setup anymore :-)

We then went for a walk around the park and checked out all the different rigs here. Definitely a change from the state parks that we have frequented lately. Low and behold, at the rear of the property is an RC field! Ya baby!!  It should work out nicely for some practice flights. I will check with the staff for permission to fly so my liability insurance stays in force.

RC Field out back! Packed gravel but should work nicely!!
Evening sky.
We bbq'ed up some steaks for dinner with the usual side dishes. Kelly was deep into her “Survivor’ as they kicked off a new season tonight. I did some blogging and off to the rack.

If all goes well with pass travel, we should see Lauren & Kyle join us tomorrow afternoon. Fingers crossed!
