Day 22 - Hobby Day

Today's plan was to hike up one of the many trails that surround the local mountains. With this in mind, no showers where taken by anyone :-) After our usual wi-fi catch up at the library, I made breakfast for everyone. Shredded hash browns, ham, eggs and avocado with fresh squeezed orange juice. Not too shabby!

It’s hobby day so we headed out and dropped the gals at Hobby Lobby so they could get their creative fix for the day. Kyle and I (well me actually:-) decided to check out the East Valley Aviators site that will host a precision aerobatics contest in a couple weeks. I wanted to see the site for RV parking purposes and to see who was out flying.

On arrival we noticed numerous two meter planes in the pits along with Gary and Chris from yesterdays stop at the other field. They had come down to practice at this site for the day. Our adopted Canadian John Bentley was also there along with Scott Lenover from Alberta. It was great to see the guys and get introduced to several other pilots that will be competing.I got caught up with John and we made some tentative plans for RV parking at all the sites. (We will also be heading to Hemet for the contest there!)

We grabbed the gals and then went up to Gold Canyon to the Lost Goldmine Trail hike. After some guidance from Lauren, we found the parking lot and headed out.

Heading out hiking.
Hiking?

Nice views!
Flora along the way.

Kyle was missing!
It was a gradual rise in terrain for approximately 2 miles and we found the hieroglyphics carved into the rocks at the end. A nice hike in clear skies and 23ºC temps.

Great views near the top.

Great day for a hike!
We headed back to the RV and the gals headed to the pool after sorting beverages. I did some tidying up and joined them after a nice shower!

FYI the map shows a U turn to come back up the the RC field but that is not correct. There is a nice turn off at the field entrance.
