Day 13 - Hobby Day

A bit of a restless sleep for both of us but I did managed to time the sunrise perfectly! Hot coffee and then a nice breakfast followed.

Today is “hobby day” for us so I pulled out all my RC gear (including generator) and charged some batteries while assembling my plane. Kelly planned to sew today and will give the inverter a workout.

Stabs about to go on.
I loaded the plane into the truck along with all my other gear and headed into Quartzsite. I met up with Ted Harold and his son Bill whom I met yesterday. After some paperwork and a $10 membership fee, I became the newest member of the Quartzsite Desert Flyers.  I also met Dave Lundy from Nanaimo, who winters down here. He is a friend of Shaun Price who is one of my fellow club members in Victoria. It’s a small world.

I spent the afternoon hanging with the guys and getting my thumbs back in shape with a few flights. It felt great to get back flying the plane. Lots of good fun & conversation ensued.

Away we go!
Dave helps as Bill flips.
Kelly spent the afternoon sewing a new bag and enjoying the desert surroundings… and the Dish Satellite TV :-)

Action stations at the sew-athon.
Another bag meets world.
Once back at the RV, I prepped the RV for a morning departure and then got the kite out for a little fun in the wind…. unfortunately the wind dies whenever I pull this thing out so it was short lived. Anther great sunset along with a simultaneous moon rise… epic!

Turning 180 degrees captures the moon rise.
Dinner was BBQ pork loin, potatoes and veggie salad. All very good.

Some blogging and a bit of TV and it was lights out for both of us.

Today’s Temps Low: 5ºc  High 21ºc
